2020 IPCA Pest Academy 3-Credit Virtual Workshop

This Pest Academy Workshop training will consist of three 1-hour sessions that qualify for 3 total hours of structural pest control credit in ILLINOIS and INDIANA. The presenter for this training will be Tom Mueller, Insects Limited, Inc. Topics covered include Stored Product Insect Behavior and Biology, Practical Pheromone Monitoring Approaches and The Case of What Done It (Case Studies of Stored Product Insects) And How to Find Where They Came From.

The training will start at 8:15 am CDT, so be sure you are logged in a few minutes early.

Credit Approval

IL: This conference has been approved for a total of 3 CEUs.

In this informative session, attendees will gain an in-depth understanding of the behavior and biology of the most important insects known to infest stored products. Pests discussed will include the Indian meal moth, Grain beetles, flour beetles, Warehouse beetle, Cigarette beetle, and clothes moths. Best practices for effective management and long-term solutions will also be covered

9:30 AM - 10:30 AM CDT
Practical Pheromone Monitoring Approaches
Tom Mueller, Insects Limited, Inc
It is one thing to see your pheromones catching insects, but what do those catches mean? We will be discussing how to evaluate your facility to set up a pheromone program, what your expectations can be from a pheromone program and what the numbers in the traps mean. We will also be discussing advancements in pheromone technology and remote monitoring.

10:45 AM - 11:45 AM CDT
The Case of What Done It (Case Studies of Stored Product Insects) And How to Find Where They Came From 
Tom Mueller, Insects Limited, Inc
This non-conventional training will review case studies covering the management of several stored product pests. Attendees will be broken out into groups to solve problems outlined in each case study, such as what insect is being described, how you would monitor for them, and how would you get rid of them. Groups will be tested in a quiz-style format that will include open discussion.


Meet the Speaker

Seminars presented by Tom Mueller, Insects Limited, Inc

Coming from a family with such an extensive stored product pest background, Tom Mueller has spent much of his life exposed to the challenges stored product insects create for the food safety industry. After receiving a 4-year degree in Business and Marketing from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Tom began on a path into the business world only to find himself back in the familiarity of pest management. Since then, Tom has been surrounded by some of the best IPM minds in the industry and spends his time in the field working with pest management professionals as well as food manufacturing professionals to ensure the successful execution of extensive pheromone programs.

He regularly presents the subject of pheromones to international and domestic pest management companies, university technical conferences, state credit conferences, and private industry corporations. He is currently the Vice President at Insects Limited where he works with companies to help solve pest problems through utilizing integrated approaches.
